Resumo: Tourism and air travel are closely related, as technological advances in aircraft have allowed longer distances to be traveled in less time. Facing the increasingly modern and globalized world, the tourist’s behavior has also changed. In this way, airports and airlines must monitor and implement these technological innovations in order to attract and retain passengers. From this perspective, this paper aims to identify the main influences that the Internet of Things (IoT), biometrics, Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR) and Mixed Reality (MR) employ on regular air transport passengers in the airport environment, from the perspective of tourism and aviation experts. Therefore, the research methodology is divided into two parts. The first is based on exploratory character of qualitative nature with a bibliographic review for theoretical foundation about tourism, air transport and technological innovations. It is followed by interviews with tourism and aviation experts, as well as daily observations of an airport operation in order to obtain an insight into the impacts of new technologies on travel, airports and airlines. As a result, technologies are allied to facilitate passenger travel and are beneficial to the parties involved in the air travel process.
