Resumo: | The results of an experimental research on the shear failure of reinforced concrete members with circular cross-section are presented. Eight simply supported beams with a 3,0 m span and a 0,4 m diameter cross-section were tested by loading them with two symmetrical concentrated forces. The variable parameters were the distance from one of the concentrated force to the nearest support and the ratios of longitudinal and transverse reinforcement. The measured ultimate shear forces were compared with predictions based on Design Codes and late recommendations. These comparisons were made by adjusting design formulae for other cross-section geometries to the circular case. It was observed that these Design predictions are usually conservative. But, due to the limited number of tests in the present experimental programme and the limited range of the parameters involved, any premature conclusion taken from this research would seem injustifiable. It is recommended that more tests should be conducted for a better understanding of the subject. |
