This work investigates the hypothesis of the degradation of the diesel engines of the emergency generators, resulting from the functional tests through the data analysis of five diesel engines of emergency generators with different test frequencies. In addition, it was examined the technical regulation imposed by the US regulatory agency NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) regarding a greater monitoring of the maintenance of elements, components and structures critical to the plant safety and its application in the context of the equipment that was used in this work. The results indicate that the weekly tested samples have a higher availability, despite their higher test frequency. Recommendations are also made about the form of the records in the maintenance database.
