Resumo: | This work is supposed to be a guide for the design computations of foundations under reciprocating engines on piles. Basic recommendations, suggestions, typical values and correlations were introduced as support to the elaboration of a typical design. We introduce the classic theory of vibrations of massive machine foundations resting on a semi-infinite elastic solid, proposed by Rausch (1943), and a theory by us proposed sufficiently exact within the actual "state-of-the-art" of machine foundations based on the theory of Matrix Structural Analysis. We have also studied how to obtain unbalanced inertial forces in Reciprocating Engines and made comments on its dynamic balance. Comparisons of the two theories presented with results found in technical magazines were included. Deduction of consistent mass matrix for an element embedded in the soil represented the greatest contribution of this thesis for the technical-scientific world since we don't find such development in any book or technical magazines consulted. Computer programming "flow-charts" elaborated for calculating results and used in the comparisons of the two theories were presented as a help to concerning research to which it is necessary to employ digital computers. |
