Resumo: The scope of the present paper is the theoretical analysis of spacial frames under lateral loading (wind load) and the preparation of a computer program for evaluating the displacements and the intemal forces of the structural members. The structural model can be described as two groups of mutually orthogonal plane frames interacting with each other through the action of a horizontal rigid slab. At the intersection of these plane frames the interaction between bending and twisting moments are disregarded in this paper and transversal stiffness of the plane frames as well. The stiffness matrix of each plane frame is deduced. The stiffness matrices of the different plane frames are arranged conveniently and in such a way that the stiffness matrix of the spacial skeleton is of the banded type. The analysis is carried further by investigating the contribution of each plane frame to support the total lateral load. Next the plane frames are analysed separately. The matricial analysis scheme is used for the investigation of the redundant forces and the computer program is designe in order to optimize storage apace in the computer memory units. An IBM 1130 computer with 32k memory units was used. A comented flow chart for the afore rnentioned program is presented. Finally the theory is applied to some particular problems.
