Resumo: The wind power is an important part of the energy transition and its expansion into sea represents the possibility to bring economic benefits for the project scale and efficiency. The overall cost-cutting effort may have the oil companies as major allies. If in the short-term cooperation among sectors can bring benefits mainly to the wind power, in the medium and long-term diversification of activities seems to be strategic to guarantee profitability for oil companies within a low carbon economy. The extension of the field life and the reuse of data, structures, knowledge and experience can bring benefits to all stakeholders involved. Although high direct costs cannot be reduced through cooperation, the potential economic gain comes from indirect costs. The sustainable development of maritime activities can diversify the economy of the region and reduce the costs associated with maritime operations. The phase of decommissioning of the fields was identified as an opportunity for the support of the Brazilian oil company in this initial phase of the expansion of the wind industry into the sea. The absence of a regulatory framework for offshore wind power, added to the need to update the decommissioning regulation, allow the State to show its support to the market. The project evaluates the potential for synergy among sectors in the Brazilian case and identifies fields with high wind resources, mainly in the northeastern coast where the commissioning of the wind farms could be done based on the available technology in the market.
