The production of soybean seeds in Santa Catarina is quite significant in the national context. The state is known as a producer of high standard soybean seeds with physical, physiological and sanitary quality. This is due to the use high of appropriate technologies, together with environmental conditions as well distributed rain during the development of the culture, mild temperatures at harvest, and low temperatures and few oscillations of the relative humidity in storage period. The objective of this paper was to evaluate the physical, physiological and sanitary quality of soybean seeds produced by the leading companies of Santa Catarina, analyzed in three periods: harvest (reception in SPU), during the processing and sale, as well as, to characterize the main factors that affect the quality of seeds, and propose measures to control and manage production processes, to ensure the quality of seed produced in the. The experiment was conducted in Santa Catarina state, in the main regions and producers of soybean seeds trade in 2009/10: Lar Cooperative, Alfa Cooperative, C. Vale Cooperative, (Xanxerê region); C. Vale Cooperative e Coamo Cooperative (Abelardo Luz region), Coocam Cooperative e Cooper Campos Cooperative (Campos Novos region), and the producer Rogério Magalhães (Canoinhas region). Data analysis and interpretation of results showed that: The soybean seeds produced in the Santa Catarina state have suitable quality for sowing; the incidence of mechanical damage and the varietal mix are the main problems detected in seed lots of soybean; soybean seed produced in the Santa Catarina state pathogens show contamination, recommended being the seed treatment. |
