We investigate the management of the scientific and technological information assets, in particular the patents, of the Postgraduate Programs of the Federal University of Paraíba in partnership with the UFPB Agency of Technological Innovation (INOVA-UFPB). Under the cognitive perspective of the fundamental equation of Information Science, it searches to demonstrate how the value-information, which holds intellectual property, is related to the principle of innovation (it evokes the strategic congregation of necessary actors represented by a Four-Leaf Clover: university, company, government and investors, in order to provide an adequate environment for the proliferation of Homo Inovatus) and, in some moments, in addition to the principle of transparency, are capable of generating profitability, absolutely essential to social, cultural, political and economic life. It has as a research question, from the information science, the investigation of the intellectual property of the postgraduate programs of the Federal University of Paraíba (UFPB), questioning how the UFPB postgraduate programs treat and manage the information assets that originate from them through dissertations, theses and other assets that are produced. It is constituted as objective to analyze the practices and perceptions adopted by the Coordinators of the UFPB Postgraduate Programs with regard to the management and protection of information assets. The methodology uses a qualitative approach, based on the documentary research analysis, UFPB database, as well as semi-structured interviews with postgraduate programs coordinators, researchers / inventors of technological information assets and INOVA-UFPB leaders. We verified that it has been applied the management of the scientific and technological information assets produced in the PPG - UFPB, even though they have not been complied with the dictates of Resolution 18 / 2017. It is expected, on the other hand, a more effective integration among the actors involved in the invention, management and protection of information asset as a four-leaf clover: UFPB, government, companies and investors (individuals or corporations), favoring an open innovation environment.
