Resumo: Psychosocial, ergonomic and organizational aspects are present in various occupational activities, among which are the profession of vigilantes. These aspects eventually influence the Quality of Life at Work (QWL) and the satisfactory development of their work activity. Thus, it is important to analyze the workload generated, as well as the ergonomics of the activity which presents as essential elements: the prescribed and actual work, the variability, the operative mode, the regulations and strategies. The present study analyzed the working conditions of vigilantes using as assumptions the Quality of Life at Work and the Ergonomics of Activity in a Public Higher Education Institution. For this, the research was developed with 60 vigilantes (Organic Vigilantes and Concierge Agents). A questionnaire containing 28 variables distributed in 10 dimensions (fair and adequate compensation, working conditions, constitutionalism, task variety) was used for data collection. , task significance, autonomy, psychological indicator, morale, boss-employee relationship, work organization) that were extracted from four QWL models, and the tool for measuring mental burden, NASA-TLX. The reliability of the QWL questionnaire was measured using Cronbach's Alpha Coefficient reaching 0.936. Through the QWL Questionnaire, it was verified that the Organic Watchers had a good level of satisfaction in all dimensions, while the Concierge Agents expressed dissatisfaction in three dimensions: Task variety, task significance and boss-employee relationship. The two functional categories base their activities on the duties of the position, which lead them to develop their own mode of operation, seeking through regulations and strategies to achieve results. Although mental demand was the factor with the greatest influence on workload, the level of frustration factor presented the largest number of significant associations with the component variables of the QWL questionnaire. Based on the interviews and the application of the QWL questionnaire and the NASA-TLX Tool, it can be stated that Organic Watchers and Concierge Agents have a good Quality of Life at Work and in general are not exposed to high workload. Concerning shift work, especially night work, there was no negative impact on the QWL of respondents
