Resumo: | This thesis sought to check the influence of moral development on social anomie and antisocial and criminal behavior in adolescents. Specifically, we elaborated a theoretical model, taking the development of post-conventional moral principles as an explanation of anomie and antisocial and criminal behavior in adolescents from different socio-educational contexts. Three empirical studies were conducted: the first study sought to verify the evidence of factorial validity and internal consistency of the measures in Brazil and the measures constructed to meet the objective of the thesis. 375 adolescents between 14 and 18 years old, female and male, from public and private schools from João Pessoa city, answered a questionnaire containing socio-demographic questions, Social Anomie Scale, Attitude Nameless Scale, Scale, Orientation and Success Scale and Antisocial and criminal conducts Scale. Results showed the internal consistency of Social Anomie Scale and Antisocial and Criminal conducts, the other scales (attitude nameless and guidance to success) had acceptable psychometric indicators of the factorial by the literature, proving what was expected. In the second study was intended to verify the structural adequacy of the scales explored in the first study. 241 adolescents from 14 to 18 years old, with similar socio-demographic characteristics to the previous study, answered the same tools used for the first study. The results confirmed both the expected structure and the adequacy of the scales used in the thesis. Finally, the third study, sought to verify the central objective of the thesis: the moral influence of the development of post-conventional principles on social anomie and antisocial and criminal behaviors. In this last study, 621 adolescents from 13 to 18 years old, female and male, from elementary school and middle school from João Pessoa city and the surrounding municipalities with different demographic characteristics social. The results support the hypotheses. The proposed model revealed that the morality of principles post-conventional joined negatively with the social anomie and antisocial behavior and criminal behaviors, the latter two variables, were positively associated with each other. Specifically, this model showed a better indicator of the adequacy of adjustment for the sample of adolescents from a socio-educational with religious tradition (Roman Catholic) when compared with other contexts: χ²/gl = 0.71, RMR = 0.01, GFI = 1.00, AGFI = 0.98, CFI = 1.00 and RMSEA = 0.00. From these results, the objectives of this thesis have been achieved. This study reinforces the importance of kohlberguiana theory of moral development as a protective factor for both antisocial and criminal behavior to social anomie. |
