Resumo: Introduction: People with chronic wounds face functional and psychological changes with important repercussions on quality of life, whose evaluation is a relevant parameter to understand the impact of this disease. Objective: To assess health-related quality of life and its association with sociodemographic and clinical aspects of people with chronic wounds. Method: Cross-sectional, quantitative study, carried out with 85 people, from June to September 2019, in a teaching hospital. As data collection instruments, a sociodemographic and clinical form, the Medical Outcomes Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) and the Cardiff Wound Impact Schedule (CWIS) -Brazilian version were used. Descriptive statistics and Student's t-tests, Mann-Whitney, Kruskal-Wallis and Kolmogorov-Smirnov were applied for data analysis. Results: There is a greater presence of chronic wounds among elderly women, who live with partners and family members, with low level of education and income and affected with systemic arterial hypertension. Wounds of venous etiology prevailed over 24 weeks and without critical signs of infection. The HRQoL assessed by the SF-36 had an average general score of 35.08. The domains limitation due to physical and emotional aspects scored lower averages. In CWIS, the domains most affected were well-being and social life and its overall average of 45.57. Sociodemographic and clinical factors showed significant correlations with scores in all domains. Final consideration: The results can contribute to a better understanding of the effects of chronic wounds on health-related quality of life and direct therapeutic interventions to the needs of the person from the perspective of a comprehensive care model.
