Resumo: It analyses the development of scientific information literacy through local regime of information at Federal University of Ceará, in Cariri campus. It uses participatory research methods for understanding and intervening (by information literacy training based on International Standards for information literacy) in the actions that develops information literacy, exploring perception and based-evidence data from the Agronomy course faculty. It notices the lack of information literacy skills in some teachers who used institutional tools of scientific communication, especially when they hadn t have attended a previous training on specific information skills. It highlights as the limitations of the development of information skills the inexistence of formal information literacy programs focused on faculty members, and some special conditions of the local regime of information (internet speed problems, e.g.). It also realizes that the information-seeking behaviors of faculty look like the ones of the information users already reported in the literature, in which the convenience is the main criteria to choose information resources over credibility of the available information. It also identifies the relevance of information literacy training focused on faculty by noticing the agreement of professors about the needing of future educational actions for development of information literacy programs, and their willing for participate of collaborative works with librarians. It believes that collaborative work among librarians and teachers is central for successful information literacy programs in all levels (from search skills to critical use of information). It concludes that the development of information skills program is a bridge that connects valuable information resources and highly experienced and skilled professionals that are able to turn information into knowledge.
