O programa bolsa família e o estado nutricional de crianças participantes: uma análise no município de Cabedelo - PB

Resumo: The research aimed to analyze the nutritional status of children participating in the Family Grant Program in the municipality of Cabedelo the period 2008 to 2010 as well as check the profile of families, issues related to the use of resources and compliance with the conditionalities of the program. The study is characterized as participatory evaluation, and was developed in two phases, the first analysis of data from the Surveillance System for Food and Nutrition (SISVAN) available on the Department of the SUS (DATASUS) of 90 children aged 0 to 7 years of age enrolled in the Family Grant Program in the years 2008 to 2010, and included those who participated in all assessments (vigências) program in the period in question. SISVAN of the variables used to analyze the nutritional status of children were age, sex, weight and height. The nutritional diagnosis of the children was performed using the anthropometric indicator BMI, gender and age. The second stage of the study consisted of an interview with guardians (father, mother or other close relatives) of children participating in the Family Grant Program, within the same age evaluated in database. Included were officials who attended the health units of the municipality to conduct a nutritional assessment in the corresponding period of validity. We selected 150 heads of sixteen units visited, while they waited for the nutritional care. In the interview, were obtained personal data such as age, family function, number of children beneficiaries, the Bolsa questions about family, such as value and ways to use the money received, time of participation, changes in diet after participation in the program, and also issues which concerned the conditionalities of the program, maintenance of school attendance, vaccination and participation in assessments of the nutritional situation of the head and children. According to data from the SISVAN, most children in all evaluations were classified as eutrophic. It is noteworthy that the children who in 2008 were at risk of overweight, only two have evolved into overweight or obese in 2010, and 13 normal weight now. Interview data, we demonstrated a high percentage of reference of the use of money to buy food. Still according to the data obtained by interviews, for the fulfillment of conditions but in all categories responsible reported to worry about keeping them moreover, the use of the resource counter contributed to improving the supply of participating families.
