The research characterizes how editorial metrics influence news production routines in the G1 Paraíba and Portal Correio newsrooms. The research uses the literature review on metrics and audience related to Gatekeeping and Gatewatching, passing through the new parameters and constraints of Post-Industrial Journalism. Field research is a non participant field journal observation in the two newsrooms that are the subject of this study, supplemented by semi-structured interviews with reporters and editors to understand how the professionals involved in the choice of guidelines deal with the aid of metrics. The results indicate that the use of information extracted from data analysis is made differently by each professional, who have different views on the importance of metrics for journalistic production. There was also a clear division in access to this data, in which reporters have access to more superficial information.
