Resumo: | This research aims to analyze new media and digital elements resulted from the Internet and New Technologies of Information and Communication (NTIC). We want to understand how cyberspace, or, more specifically, the cyberativism is used / practiced by the Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem Terra - MST. Besides, as this social movement - the largest in Brazil and one of the largest in the world - has appropriated these resources to promote their propagation and ideological militancy inside and outside cyberspace. We analyze the forms that MST exercised political, social and cultural ways of working on World Wide Web. The research corpus was the site of the Movement (www.mst.org.br) and all its resources and interactive tools. We found that the MST has reached a new level of struggle for Agrarian Reform, through the extension of democratic discussion and exploration of what we call New Public Interconnected Sphere. This MST structure of communication allows to establish a confrontation to the traditional press, going against Big Media and their incessant social movements criminalization. |
