Resumo: Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary science of great aggregate potential that impacts all the sectors of society. Nevertheless, even though they are widely inserted in our daily lives, the biotechnology concepts and products still have the challenge of becoming accessible to a great part of the population. In this subject, the role of the school is fundamental in the insertion of discussions that contemplate the biotechnological topics for students` understand. Therefore, to contribute to the teaching of biology and the scientific dissemination in the biotechnology field, the objective of this paper aimed to investigate the perceptions of high school students from fourteen schools in the state of Paraíba, about biotechnological topics and to develop a technological product for the teaching and dissemination of Biotechnology. In order to do this, was performed the following: a) a critical analysis of students' perceptions about Biotechnology, its applications and all thematic about it b) creation of the BIOTEC an educational application, compatible with Android and iOS platforms, also available in Web App format (containing concepts and applications of Biotechnology) and c) the application of a didactic sequence with the use of the BIOTEC application to students from one of the participating school in the research. The intention was to carry out an initial evaluation of the application and its capacity and competence to clarify the biotechnological concepts. The results obtained demonstrated that biotechnology, although composing the curriculum of Basic Education, imperceptibly passed in the students' daily life and the primary evaluation of the BIOTEC application indicated that it is a suitable technological tool to approach biotechnology in the classroom, in addition to being a vehicle of scientific dissemination.
