Gender inequality in politics is still a common reality in democratic countries. In Brazil, the electoral system uses electoral quotas of gender seeking leveling of the political game. This research investigates the representation of women in politics, analyzing the profiles of parliamentarians of the 55th legislature (2015-2019). The data used are from the Superior Electoral Court, Chamber of Deputies and Inter-Union Department of Parliamentary Advice, and make up the profile of women elected to the position of federal deputy in the 2014 election. The analysis is done through descriptive statistics and shows a gradual advance from the entry of women into politics, but also reveals specific factors to be overcome, mainly through institutional changes.
