Resumo: This research depicts my process of building a series of photo performances entitled “Lesão Autoprovocad a Intencionalment e por Infâmia” (“Self inflicted Intentionally Infamous Injury”), composed of 28 images which reflect on the suicides commited among gay actors working in the porn industry. It is also a work of writing about oneself, where, for a better vi s ualization of my creative process, I write about my path as an effeminate gay man who went through strong suicidal tendencies during the time I lived under the tutelage of my parents, ultraconservative practitioners of neopentecostal doctrines. I then mak e it clear that m y entire trajectory, as well as the marks related to the various homophobic practices to which I was submitted, are important vectors for a better involvement with the material discussed here. In order to support the analyzes, I also raise a pertinent disc u ssion about the systematic problems related to commercial porn erotic production, reflecting on some power relations perpetuated by / in this universe DÍAZ BENTEZ 2010, REGES, 2004). Thus, I elaborate a theoretical discussion about the b o undaries and exi s ting relationships between the categorizations of erotic, pornographic and artistic materials, thus showing that such concepts are fluid and change according to the environment in which they circulate, the time and the society that produc e and consume ABR EU, 2012, CABRAL, 2015, PRECIADO, 2018, MEDEIROS 2008 E ALVES, 2018) In this way, “Lesão Autoprovocada Intencionalmente por Infâmia” “Self inflicted Intentionally Infamous Injury” is established as a series of photo performances that tr a vels among these universes, without however intending to stick to just one, as it proposes to connect, transgress and coexist together with eroticism, pornography and art.
