Resumo: Introduction: Tuberculosis continues to be a global public health challenge. It still has high rates of illness and is among the most fatal diseases, even though it is curable. The use of health records can be used to provide quality care to users. The accuracy and systematic recording of health data and its conversion into information is crucial for guiding processes in the health area. Records are important tools for continuity of care, monitoring actions and health planning. Objective: Analyzing the discourse of managers regarding records on tuberculosis care in Primary Health Care. Method: An exploratory study with a qualitative approach was carried out in the municipality of João Pessoa-PB, with managers, professionals who work in epidemiological surveillance as tuberculosis references in the health districts and health managers as collaborators. Data was collected from June to September 2023 from 55 managers. The empirical material was organized using the ATLAS.ti 23 software. The theoretical-methodological basis of the French Discourse Analysis was used to analyse the corpus, made up of interviews with the managers. The project was approved under report number 6.020.651. Results: Among the participants, there was a prevalence of females, an average age of 41 years, different educational backgrounds with a greater number of physiotherapists. Based on the corpus, five discursive formations were identified: Weaknesses in records resulting from factors inherent to the professionals/services; Weaknesses in records resulting from factors inherent to users; Records of a clinical-therapeutic nature for people with TB; Epidemiological surveillance records; Contribution of managers to improving records. Final considerations: The managers recognize the importance of keeping records on the care of people with tuberculosis, but point out weaknesses in the quality of the records. Managers position themselves passively, merely as spectators to the care of people with tuberculosis and the recording of these actions. Managers need to be more participative and work together with the health team to design and develop strategies to improve the quality of records, in order to contribute to the planning of actions and services with a view to improving care for people with tuberculosis and tuberculosis control.
