Acidentes e violência envolvendo a população masculina: contribuições à Política Nacional de Atenção à Saúde do Homem.

Resumo: Accidents and violence appear as representative and problematic aspect of the current organization of social life, especially for males. Since, are instances distinctly masculine, thereby contributing to a lower life expectancy of this population and high cost to the health sector for treatment and rehabilitation of victimized. In order to scale this problem, it is necessary to gather data, analyze them, interpret them and present them to society so that, in their possession, it can act with more confidence to face it. Given this, through observational, retrospective, descriptive quantitative approach aimed at analyzing records from the Surveillance of Violence and Injuries - VIVA - the correlation between socioeconomic and demographic profile with the qualification of accidents and violence involving male users served sentinel services in Joao Pessoa. The results were obtained by a step supported by ethical principles inherent to Resolution 196/96 of the National Health Council Resolution 311 and the Federal Council of Nursing. Which set up the analysis from the records of service effected by the male audience Accidents and Violence Surveillance - LIVE in the city of Joao Pessoa in Hospital Emergency and Trauma Senator Humberto Lucena and Mangabeira Hospital Complex in October 2009. For a better insight and understanding of the data, these were presented in tables and graphs. In the study, with respect, victims of accidents and violence was observed the predominance of young men aged 20 to 39 years (44.22%) without a disability (93%), black (66.82%), students (25.13%), with only elementary education (50.73%), resident of João Pessoa (90.61%) are more vulnerable in relation to the occurrence of accidents and violence. With regard to the characteristics of these incidents there was predominance of male victims of attendance of these conditions in the urban area (87.50%), on public roads (42.80%), on Fridays (18.7%) because traffic accidents (32.2%), with most of the time a cut / laceration (31%) affecting mainly the lower limbs (27.13%). The results found in this study come not only to confirm data from other studies, but also serve as the basis for the resumption of reflection on the part of the State government and municipal health on the importance of more effective public policies to cope with accidents and violence.
