Resumo: This is work study about Conducted, to investigate the influences of hydrogen content of the shielding gas in the behavior of mechanical properties (toughness, hardness, and tensile strength) of steel welded ASTM A36. The test specimens were welded with GMAW and FCAW. That is, we used two mixtures of shielding gas, 75% Ar +25% CO2 in the other containing hydrogen in its composition, 70% Ar +25% CO2 +5% H2. The development experiment was carried out in the completely random with the aid of a procedure known as factorial design (FT), having been used for the variables influencing the type of wire, and gas composition. The replies variables were analyzed tensile strength, toughness and hardness regions of the weld. The results were submitted to analysis variance and 90% confidence interval was utilized. The technique of scanning electron microscopy (SEM) was used to characterize the fracture mode observed in the weld metal and in the thermally affected by the heat. The results showed the hydrogen present in the shielding gas brittled the weld metal, and which were observed bubble formation in the weld metal.
