Resumo: | Introduction: distance learning has been highlighted as an educational modality used in undergraduate courses. In this context, the Federal University of Paraíba has the Integrated System of Management of Academic Activities (SIGAA) to manage the academic data. Objectives: to characterize the sociodemographic and professional profile of the teachers of the courses of health; distinguish the system functionalities used by the teachers; identify characteristics regarding the use of the functionalities available in SIGAA; and to identify the factors that facilitate and hinder the use of SIGAA in the teaching-learning process. Method: an exploratory, descriptive, quantitative-qualitative study. For the selection of the sample, stratified random sampling was used by department that totaled 100 teachers (quantitative analysis) and for qualitative analysis, sampling by speech saturation. We used the SPSS and R programs for quantitative analysis, and the IRAMUTEQ program for qualitative analysis. The project was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of CCS, according to CAAE 7110918.5.0000.5188. Results: Teachers had a mean age of 47.6 years and 13.9 years of service, with a predominance of females, married, with doctorate degree, exclusive dedication regime, most of them only in undergraduate studies, teaching three subjects with four undergraduate and graduate students, and, on average, one extension project per teacher. It was evidenced that the teachers had facility in the use of tools related to the teaching, being deficient in the management of the modules: extension, research, library and use of activities in virtual environment. Qualitative analysis revealed six classes: using SIGAA partially; experiencing the use of SIGAA; difficulties in using SIGAA; pointing out some facilities with the use of SIGAA; realizing that the SIGAA allows the interaction between teachers and students; and perceiving SIGAA as a system of standardization and bureaucratization. Conclusion: teachers used the teaching module skillfully, but presented difficulties in other modules, so the need for training and accessible technical support to ensure the efficient use of SIGAA |
