This study presents discussions on the education of deaf children in regular childhood education institutions, based on Cultural Studies and Deaf Studies. It aims to analyze the education of a deaf child in one of these institutions, located in João Pessoa – PB, emphasizing the communicative processes of the deaf child, languages development possibilities of language, deaf identity and deaf culture in this space. This is a qualitative study, characterized as a case study, which was attended by the deaf child and the professionals involved in their education. Data were collected by observation and semi-structures interviews, and the analysis took into account mainly the following categories: equity, language, deaf identity, deaf culture, education and body. The results pointed to an education that break several basic principles of early childhood education and ignores the inherent diferences deaf children.
