Resumo: The present thesis investigates the modes / schemes of mentioned discourse and their functions in the construction of meanings of the letter of Paul to the romans, emphasizing the dialogical aspects arising from the relations between discourses in the communicative process. The theoretical-methodological perspective mobilized comes from the writings of the Circle of Bakhtin; of the theory / dialogical analysis of the discourse, in dialogue with contributions of Authier-Revuz (1998, 2004) and Maingueneau (2002, 2005), mainly about the speech quoted from the other; Bagshaw (2013), Coates (2004), Leite (2014), Mcqueen (1995), Mihailovic (1997), and studies by Schnelle (2010), Murphy-O 'Connor (2004), Fabris (2003), Bart (1997), Alexandre Júnior (2015), Gonçalves and Di Mesquita (2010), among others, about Paul and the letter to the romans. From a primarily qualitative perspective and an analysis of an interpretative nature, we analyze the corpus, which is constituted of one of the canonical letters authored by the apostle Paul, namely the letter to the romans. The analysis reveals that, the author's discourse tends to transmit the word of others explicitly, making it appear in enunciative tessitura. On the other hand, this transmission is not impartial and neutral, since the modes / schemes of discourse quoted imply - one more other less - semantic-structural modifications in the discourse of the other. The analysis also reveal that the modes / schemes of speech quoted and their functions are marks of the dialogical relations that materialize in the construction of meanings of the letter, establishing the bivocality and the biface aspect of / in the letter. Futhermore, the value of the sacred word - of Scripture - can be seen in the construction of meanings of the letter. Moreover, as regards the effects of sense, the letter is both the place of the sacred and the profane, of the divine word and of the human word, for the sacred word in some cases does not remain unalterable and untouchable in the enunciative tessitura. The discourse cited, therefore, appears as an important enunciative-discursive resource in the construction of the letter's meanings, establishing the relationship with an already sacred saying and with a possible discourse of the readers / listeners.
