Resumo: | This report presents the production of a documentary gathering profiles of women from the female rural maracatu Coração Nazareno from the city of Nazaré da Mata - PE. The aim is to investigate how the journalistic documentary contributes to give visibility to the female presence in a predominantly male cultural manifestation, such as rural maracatu, fomenting gender equality in the popular culture of Pernambuco. Aiming this, we used authors such as Canclini (1983, 2008), Bosi (1992), Hall (2003), Lima (1993, 2014, 2018), Vilas Boas (2003), Beauvoir (1980), Scott (2009), Fraser (2010), Medina (1986, 2008), Nichols (2005, 2017), Penafria (1999), Lucena (2012) and Bezerra (2018). In methodological terms, the qualitative research was carried out using the ethnography method and the participant observation technique, with the use of semi-structured interviews, which made it possible to ascertain and capture information about the lives of these women and create profiles in audiovisual format to reflect these realities. As a result, original profile reports were produced so that the world can learn about the life stories of these women and the rural maracatu Coração Nazareno, allowing a reflection on the struggle and female resistance for equal rights in the cultural field and contributing to the production of documentaries of a social nature and for the dissemination and appreciation of Pernambuco's popular culture.
