Resumo: The present research aims to analyze how the phenomenon of urban violence is expressed within Campus I of the Federal University of Paraíba.The theoretical framework is based on discussions about violence with the authors Hanna Arendt, Daniel Cerqueira, Dahlberg & Krug and others. For this purpose, we will use important works by the mentioned authors, such as, A Condition Humana, Eichmann em Jerusalem, as well as studies by researchers from IBGE, IPEA, as well as UN reports and other articles related to the object of study. This research is a case study with a quantitative and qualitative approach, with descriptive and exploratory characteristics, with an applied purpose. The methodology used was mainly document analysis, where data were collected from the occurrences recorded at the Institutional Security Superintendence of UFPB that were related to violence against people, property and animal.Data analysis followed guidelines extracted from content analysis.Among the results, it was highlighted that the highest rates of type of violence within Campus I at the Federal University of Paraíba, in the period studied (2015 -2019) were:: theft of third-party objects, theft of objects inside vehicles, theft and damage to public property, animal abuse, theft, physical abuse, among others. They happened more frequently in the daytime, mainly in front of the Centro de Vivência, Caixa Econômica Federal parking lot, Health Sciences Center , UFPB dorm rooms and other locations in different points of Campus I.It was also possible to observe a decrease in the last two years of the mentioned period. Thus, the present research provides relevant information that will be able to subsidize future operational actions in management decision making to combat the phenomenon within the institution.
