The landscape is the central theme of the discussion outlined here, which uses a part of the historic center of João Pessoa - PB, called Cidade Alta, as empirical object. The work is developed on two fronts: one investigates the relationship of landscape and conservation, from the construction of the landscape concept in geography - discipline where this concept is deeply debated - and architecture - discipline that underlies the narrative and seizure here proposal - and bounce these discussions and conceptualizations in heritage issues. In parallel, we investigate the landscape of the Cidade Alta, seizing and analyzing their shapes and images, taking into consideration that this area is an object of historical interest and falls within the perimeter of national tipping. The intention is to articulate discussion of Cidade Alta as landscape and landscape while heritage to rethink the possibilities for their conservation.
