Resumo: Introduction: The palliative care to children and adolescents with chronic disease is a holistic approach of great importance to favor care directed to the patient and his family, given their needs. This dissertation is composed of two articles, one theoretical and the other original. The first, theoretical, is entitled: Scientific production about the experience of families of children/adolescents under palliative care: a bibliometric study. Objective: To analyze the scientific production published in journals online about the experience of families of children/adolescents under palliative care. Methodology: A bibliometric study with a quantitative approach consisting of articles published in the period from 2007 to 2017, selected in LILACS, MEDLINE, BDENF, as well as on the virtual library SciELO. Results: We identified 42 articles scattered in 22 journals, including the Journal of Nursing was the most published about the theme. The majority of publications was concentrated in the area of Nursing, predominantly authors with the title of doctor and collective authorship. Conclusion: It was observed that the production about the theme investigated lies with a reduced quantitatively, whereas the surveyed period, requiring an expansion of knowledge that involves the context analyzed. The second study is titled: Evaluation of family structure of children/adolescents under palliative care: a study in the light of the Calgary Model. Objective: To analyze the family structure of child/adolescent under palliative care in the light of the Calgary model. Methodology: A field study with a qualitative approach, which was attended by five families of children/adolescents with chronic diseases who were hospitalized at a public hospital in the city of João Pessoa-PB. The data collection occurred in the period from March to May 2018, using instruments such as the genogram and ecomap and analysis in the light of the Calgary Model. Results: The results were described in two stages: the first is related to the characterization of the families through the genogram and ecomap, and the second, it is the family assessment and its main aspects. Conclusion: Calgary Model allowed outline an analysis of the family so integral, taking into consideration the fundamental aspects of its structure. In this way, it is essential the participation of nurses in the care provided to the child and adolescent together with the family, identifying the needs of the patient.
