Such an approach is of paramount relevance in the field of nursing. This dissertation consisted of two articles: one bibliometric and the other original, whose objectives are: to characterize the scientific production of dissertations and theses on palliative care and grief in the Brazilian scenario, and to analyze nurses' feelings and coping strategies when caring for patients with Covid. -19 in palliative care in the face of anticipatory grief, in the light of the theory of chronic sadness, to investigate nurses' feelings when caring for patients with Covid-19 in palliative care with an emphasis on anticipatory grief and to identify coping strategies adopted by nurses in the face of grief anticipatory care when caring for patients with Covid-19 in palliative care. Methodology: the proposed study was conducted in two stages: in the first one, a bibliometric study was carried out, based on dissertations and theses in the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations and in the CAPES Dissertation and Theses Catalogue, the collection period took place in April 2021. In the second stage, a field survey was carried out with a qualitative approach. Data collection took place from June to September 2021, with 15 nurses who provide care to patients with Covid-19 under palliative care, using a semi-structured form online. The research protocol was approved by a Research Ethics Committee. The empirical material was categorized using the content analysis technique and analyzed in the light of the Chronic Sadness Theory Results: in the data obtained from the bibliometric research, it was found that the program with the highest quantity of scientific production of dissertations and theses was at the University of São Paulo (USP); Regarding the year of defense, the years 2018 and 2013 had the highest number of dissertations completed, and the year 2019 was the year that had the most theses defended. As for the type of methodological approach, it was possible to identify that all the works were of the qualitative type. From the qualitative analysis, two thematic categories emerged: experiencing the care of patients with Covid-19 in palliative care and coping strategies used when caring for patients with Covid-19. Conclusion: this study may contribute to support nursing care in the light of the Chronic Sadness Theory for patients in palliative care in the final stage of life. In addition to contributing to expand the scientific production on palliative care and bereavement, as well as subsidizing new investigations on the subject. |
