Resumo: This research provides some reflections on the perspectives of inserting songs in the Literature classes in a way that their study gets integrated with the teaching and learning process of literary knowledge in high school. Paying special attention to the current purposes and propositions underlying the teaching and learning of Literature in high school we address the discussions for the inclusion of poetical songs of Brazilian popular music in the Literature classes, considering didactic explorations of the music and pedagogical approaches of the lyrics. In this way, through the approaches that consider the reading literary perspective, it is possible to make poetical lyrics interact with the poetry expressed in them, thus providing students with a learning of literature through which they can discuss issues based on a knowledge offered by this learning. Through these reflections, we present alternatives for the exploration of songs in the classroom, considering the lyrics as a mediating tool in the learning process of reading poetical texts and the use of music as a didactic resource that may help mediate students learning.
