Resumo: This work presents considerations about the regional and popular language used by Brazilian writer Jessier Quirino, aiming to identify and describe the specific Northeastearn Brazil vocabulary. Thus, the main goal of our research is to list, in a glossary, the regional-popular language of Jessier, this way ensuring that our current society and future generations, as well as researchers in the area, have access to this linguistic and cultural collection. This goal is justified by the wealth of regional expressions presented by the works studied. This way, we can confirm that a research like this one contributes to the preservation of regional speeches and t lso proves the cultural wealth of Northeastern Brazil, also extolling the literary writing of regionalist authors such as Quirino. Thus, this type of language, which requires further studies, becomes recognized not only in the academic environment, but in society in general. Threfore, our study is based on the theoretical assumptions of Dialectology, Sociolinguistics, Ethnolinguistics, Lexicology, Lexicography and Semantics, which will be used according to Aragão (2005), Biderman (2001), Borba (2002), Cardoso (2016), Coseriu (1977), Pottier (1972), among others. As for the corpus of the research, it is composed of four Quirinian works, namely: Prosa Morena (2005), Bandeira Nordestina (2006), Berro Novo (2009) and Papel de Bodega (2013). Those poetic works properly represent the regional language used by the Northeastern people in Brazil. Therefore, the importance of a lexical-semantic glossary is noteworthy, given that it can perform, among so many functions, that of historical heritage of a given linguistic community, thus enabling the knowledge and preservation of regional speeches. Finally, we have identified, in our corpus, within what we perceive as the regional-popular language, neologisms, archaisms and northeastern expressions of current use in the region.
