Resumo: Fertility is an essential demographic component in assessing the maternal and child health of a population, with adolescent fertility as an indicator. For adolescents, fertility means a greater risk for complex health outcomes, becoming a public health problem. The different social realities in the Brazilian territory imply the need to identify the peculiarities of fertility that impact the regional maternal-adolescent population. This work intends, therefore, to model adolescent fertility (15-19 years old) with maternal and child variables from the Declarations of Live Births (DLB) of adolescent mothers in the municipalities of the Brazilian Semi-arid. An ecological study was carried out. The binary logistic regression analysis, based on the microdata of the 1262 municipalities in the Semi-Arid region, was applied. Initially, a previous study of the quality of the microdata information was carried out. The study showed the advances in Health Information Systems in Brazil, however, municipalities were detected with percentages of significant incompleteness in the variables of the DLB, in addition to the coverage of birth registration without reaching universal access. Weaknesses faced by the adolescents were detected, such as: number of prenatal consultations below that recommended by the Ministry of Health, increase in the number of cesarean deliveries, and adolescents outside the recommended school age group. The final regression model was able to explain the association between the Specific Adolescent Fertility Rate and the mother's education, Apgar Index of 5 minutes and number of prenatal consultations. It was concluded by the influence of some maternal and child health variables on adolescent fertility, enhanced by social and demographic factors.
