Resumo: | This study emphasize the importance of Instituto de Educação da Paraiba to the education of this state between 1935-1939. Desinged by the Law 16 from 1935 to work like an educational complex which forms teachers, the Instituto de Educação da Paraiba had its own propose to work based in the model of Instituto from Distrito Federal in Rio de Janeiro. To investigate how it was received in Paraiba, however some powers were directly against its working, they contributed to Instituto s failing at that moment. Even that, in 1939, before the inauguration of Instituto, the Escola Secundaria, a part of Liceu Paraibano, was extinguished and substituted causing the lack of characterization from the initial plan of teachers s formation by Instituto de Educação. We perceived from the publications of Manifesto dos Pioneiros da Nova Educação, that had a great influence on the creation of Instituto de Educação. The purpose is to identify how this influence was effective. So, we were supported by a documental analysis, that is, journals, magazines and official documents sent to Instituto de Educação provided by the state during that period. The sources was collected in the files of A União News, in the Arquivo Histórico da Paraiba in Fundação Espaço Cultural FUNESC (periodics and diaries of Jose Baptista de Mello s journey to Distrito Federal) and in the Instituto Histórico e Geográfico da Paraiba IHGP, also the publications by Jose Baptista de Mello A evolução do ensino na Paraíba and by Italo Joffili Sobre o plano do Instituto de Educação , too. This research pay attention to the differences between the national and state context, that brings to us a better comprehension about political process in education happened during the studied period. After analyzing the documents, we affirm that the Instituto de Educação da Paraiba was highlighted because showed a modern architecture giving life to the city surrounds and also because its effort brought to the education an innovation to form the Paraibano teachers. |
