Resumo: Introduction: chronic pain is a major public health challenge, associated with long-term pathological processes that last for months and often for years, especially the elderly population. Given this, an adequate assessment and assertive diagnoses by the multiprofessional team is necessary to avoid ineffective treatments. In this context, the importance of systematized nursing care directed to the elderly with chronic pain is emphasized, in order to contribute to minimize or solve this symptom. Objectives: to seek scientific evidence on therapeutic strategies for elderly people with chronic pain; perform nursing diagnoses and interventions for elderly people with chronic pain and propose a script for nursing consultation for elderly people with chronic pain. Method: this is a methodological study developed in three stages: in the first, an integrative literature review on the therapeutic strategies for the elderly with chronic pain; The second stage was a research for the construction of nursing diagnoses and interventions for elderly people with chronic pain and in the third, a script for nursing consultation for elderly people with chronic pain was built. The study was attended by 96 elderly residents of Cidade Madura condominiums, located in five municipalities of Paraíba State. Semi-structured interviews were conducted from November 2018 to January 2019. The data were analyzed based on the theoretical basis of the Basic Human Needs for the construction of a nursing consultation script aimed at the elderly with chronic pain residing in these condominiums. Results and discussion: 96 elderly residents of the Cidade Madura Condominiums of Paraíba State participated in the study: 26 elderly in Cajazeiras; 21 Souza, 18 Guarabira; 16 João Pessoa and 15 elderly Campina Grande. The prevalence of chronic pain at the time of interview the condominium of Cajazeiras 38.5% (10) reported feeling pain; in Souza 57.1% (12) reported pain; Guarabira, half of respondents reported feeling pain and the other half did not feel pain, making up 50% (9) respectively; in João Pessoa, 37.5% (6) reported pain 42.9% (6) in the anterior region of the lower limbs knee and 40% in the posterior region of the trunk; Campina Grande, 73.3% (11) were in pain. The data collected subsidized the construction of nursing diagnoses and interventions in the Theoretical Model of Basic Human Needs taking into account the dimensions: psychobiological, psychosocial and psycho-spiritual in the construction of a nursing consultation script for the elderly residents of the five Cidade Madura Condominiums. Final considerations: the instrument proposed for nursing consultation will assist the nursing staff in nursing interventions facing chronic pain from the identification of diagnoses for possible nursing interventions, thus contributing to assisting the elderly with painful complaints, collaborating in the follow-up of these patients and future research.
