Resumo: The objective of this dissertation is to evaluate the energetic efficiency in municipal and federal public schools of Maceió, capitol city of Alagoas. It was only possible duo to the verification of these elements: intern lightning, wall colors, the height of the reading area (work plan) of the students, height and position of the lamps and fans, as well as the electric efficiency of each device. The research was made in 10 municipal schools of Maceió, involving more than 200 environments – classrooms, boardroom, kitchen, bathroom and leisure area. Highlighting the main electric charges consumed in schools: lights, fans, refrigerators, air conditioning and freezers. Initially, no efficiency was observed, for the administrators, teachers and other employees were unable to tell the power efficiency and demonstrated no concern about the expenses of the public machine with electricity. There for, the possibility of adopting saving methods exists – capacitating all involved in junior schools, replacing old devices with new ones, electric efficiency certificated; stimulating electric rationing with use of natural lighting through changes in the physical structure of the school. With this electric consumption pattern it’s possible to introduce methods the electric efficiency in the school environment, accomplishing efficient rationing of energy through reduction of electric demand and natural resources consumption and, consequently, reducing public expenses.
