Resumo: | This work is focused on the investigation of the possibilities that Mathematical Modelling offers to contextualized and meaningful learning of statistical and mathematical concepts, in a class of students from the seventh semester of Mathematics from UNIFRA. The study is supported on the possibilities of adopting a teaching methodology capable of enabling students to have contact with everyday problems, developing the ability of solving them and analyzing and interpreting the solutions while, at the same time, learning mathematic and statistic subjects. The research was carried out, in a qualitative approach, based on data collected in semi-structured interviews, observations made during student activities, reports of research subjects which were registered in Diários de Campo and other documents produced by them. Students enrolled in the Projeto de Pesquisa e Extensão em Educação Matemática II, from the Mathematics course participated in this work as research subjects. The analysis of the data was established based on theoretical approachest and personal reflection. Attitude changes during the research and the commitment of the students with the study could be verified through the analysis. It was also verified that the Mathematical Modelling environment produced interest and motivation to study contextualized mathematic and statistic subjects and the meaning of these subjects as well as developing abilities for investigating and comprehending the socio-cultural role of mathematics. |
