Resumo: This research emerged from the need to study how the change in society, from the insertion of the technological context, reflects in the teaching practices at a University. The aim was to study how mediatization affects teaching practice at the Franciscan University (UFN), an institution located in Santa Maria, RS. For this, it was necessary to define the insertion of the Institution in the virtual environment and the offer of classroom and distance learning courses; to map the teaching strategies adopted by UFN for using media by professors in teaching and learning processes; to understand how mediatization affects UFN professors; to report how the context of the COVID-19 pandemic affected the institution's teaching practices and technological insertion. This was an exploratory, qualitative and descriptive study and relied on the participant direct observation technique. For data collection semi-structured interviews and semi-structured questionnaires were reported to professors and managers at UFN. The collected data diagnoses were performed using the content analysis technique of Bardin (2016). As it involves human beings, according to resolution CNS/MS 50/2016, research was approved by the Research Ethics Committee/UFN. This study concludes that UFN’s professors, contextualized in this media scenario, have adapted their teaching practices taking a mediation and advice position to students in the use of resources in learning process and after the intensification of the use of technological resources, due to the emergency implantation of remote education, they feel satisfactorily inserted in this context and can create different ways to thinking about their strategies and methodologies, which possibly will enhance his teaching practices.
