Resumo: |
This research aims to: describe the knowledge of nursing professionals in a hospital about Permanent Education in Health before and after an awareness-raising workshop and; understand the strengths, weaknesses, and strategies experienced by nursing professionals in a hospital in the development and implementation of the Permanent Education Center in Health in their daily professional routine. This is a strategic action research, developed with 23 nursing professionals from a private hospital located in the central region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. The data were obtained through a structured questionnaire with open and self administered questions, in two moments, in January and March 2024 (first moment). After the initial data collection stage, a workshop was held with the participants in June and July 2024 to raise awareness among professionals about issues related to Continuing Education in Health and the Center for Continuing Education in Health. The workshop was held in hospital units, using a dialogued expository presentation, followed by a conversation with the professionals, lasting an average of 40 minutes. The activity was coordinated by a nurse, a researcher in the area, and with experience in the subject. After the workshop, new rounds of data collection were held in July and August 2024 (second moment), conducted using the same instrument used to assess the participants knowledge in the first moment. All data collection instruments (questionnaires) were typed mechanically by the researcher, with the help of Microsoft Word (version 16.31), and, afterward, were subjected to Discursive Textual Analysis. The data resulted in a central category: Knowledge of nursing professionals about Continuing Education in Health. This resulted in five categories of analysis: Continuing Education in Health: specific and linear knowledge; Continuing Education Center in Health: (lack of) knowledge about the concept and function; Presence of training and qualifications: absence of the Continuing Education Center in Health; Continuing Education in Health: expanded and contextualized knowledge; and Continuing Education Center in Health: tool that drives the personal and professional development of employees. In the end, these data were systematized in a manuscript. This research contributed to the knowledge and awareness of nursing professionals about Continuing Education in Health and the Continuing Education Center in Health in the hospital, which may have an impact on the future implementation of the Center in the institution and on the improvement of the team's work process. |
