Resumo: The remote teaching in the period of the pandemic, caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, became inevitable and urgent and only happened with the use of digital technologies, which entailed not only educators and students, but the entire educational system new challenges, affecting everyone involved in a new way of teaching and learning. The Cerrado Biome theme was chosen in this research, as it is part of the students’ regional context and its study allows the understanding of its particularities and the students’ environmental awareness, through investigative teaching and the digital games production. A qualitative methodology was used, with the use of participatory research, verification of significant learning, through the teaching by investigation approach. The research was developed at Escola Estadual Pascoal Moreira Cabral - Cuiabá-MT, with students from 1st Grades A and B, during the year 2021, remotely and with some in-person meetings, following the health recommendations of the safe return of classes. The research began with a conversation circle for the project presentation and diagnostic evaluation on the previous knowledge about this biome, followed by problematizations and hypotheses for an investigative activity through digital technologies and the knowledge socialization acquired about the Cerrado by through a mural newspaper in the Padlet app. To complete the work, digital games, quizzes were produced by the Kahoot.com application, in order to promote the application of acquired learning, dissemination, interaction and relaxation in the class. The Quizzes, provided by Kahoot, according to the research participants, were very important in learning the contents and self-assessment of the investigated themes, and it is hereby concluded that environmental awareness and significant learning about the Cerrado Biome occurred. The approach to teaching by investigation proves to be a teaching strategy that encourages and motivates students to take the lead in the pursuit of their own knowledge, in addition to working with games, being an area that they enjoy and show great interest in.
