Resumo: The Pantanal, the largest floodplain in the world, is attributed to the alternation between periods of heavy rainfall and periods of drought, the type of soil, the low slope and the occurrence of water bodies that contribute to the flooding of this region, factors that generate. Other peculiar characteristics such as the diversity of fauna and flora. Considering these attributes, the objective of this research was to understand how the occurrence of flooding, due to the physical characteristics and hydraulic properties of the soil, influences the Vochysia divergens Pohl (Cambará) domain in an area representative of the Pantanal ecosystem, To support the understanding of tree maintenance and development. For this, it was necessary to know: the topography of the soil, the local microclimate, the variation of the water level of flood; The growth of Vochysia divergens Pohl; The physical, chemical and morphological characteristics of the soil; The relationship between soil hydraulic properties (Rosetta - Hydrus 1D method and Wosten et al., 1999) and the dominance of Vochysia divergens Pohl in the study area. Thus, it was verified that the topography is the characteristic of a plain; The local microclimate presented seasonality similar to the regional climate; There was a difference in the behavior of the water level of flooding that related to the precipitation intensity; The physical and morphological characteristics indicate if it is a chrome Vertisol; The applied analysis did not indicate which model of estimation best adapts to the influence of soil hydraulic conductivity as a function of the arboreal growth of Vochysia divergens Pohl in the Pantanal, suggesting that the growth of this species depends on several other environmental factors.
