Resumo: The changing demographic profile on the world stage, and more recently in Brazil, has among its manifestations, the increasing number of the elderly population, which must be accompanied by the improvement and maintenance of health and quality of life. Objective: To evaluate the influence of Living Center for Senior Citizens in the quality of life of elderly users of Social Centers in the city of Cuiabá. Methodology: This is an analytical study with cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 634 elderly, forming two groups, with 317 elderly Living Center for Seniors and Elderly Unit 317 Family Health. For data collection we used the instruments of sociodemographics, WHOQOL-BREF and WHOQOL-OLD to assess quality of life. We conducted descriptive analysis and comparison tests between groups. Results: There was a predominance of females, aged between 60-69 years, which have companion, with 1-4 years of study, retirees, income ≤ 1 minimum wage and economic class C. Observed in groups higher scores for quality of life in the psychological domain and death and dying, and smaller in the field environment and functioning of the senses. The elderly group of Living Center for Seniors had higher scores for quality of life for the domain the physical, psychological, social relationships, functioning of the senses, death and dying, autonomy and social participation, compared to the group of elderly Health Unit Family. Conclusions: The elderly of Living Center for Senior Citizens obtained better results related to perceived quality of life. Thus, the Social Centers for Elderly develop intervention actions in the pursuit of better quality of life.
