Resumo: The present research aims to analyze the anti-communist textual productions of Archbishop Francisco de Aquino Corrêa, which were published in the Catholic newspaper A Cruz, in the period between 1929 and 1941. At first, it is possible to realize that such productions had the purpose of reaffirming the Cuiaban Catholic position in the face of communist ideology, in addition to alerting its faithful about a possible "communist infiltration" and condemning the communist "error". In the same way, studying the material can help us to explain, historically, the relationship of the Catholic Church with the media, this being an important instrument for anti-communist Catholic propaganda. For the elaboration of this research, the temporal clipping was delimited between 1929 and 1941. The choice of the year 1929 is due to the fact that the first text of Don Aquino, published in the newspaper, warns about the dangers of communism, since this ideology symbolized, for him, a path of anarchy, chaos and social disorder. As a final point of this clipping, the year 1941, in which a speech in thanksgiving was made by Archbishop Aquino for the fifty-year anniversary of the encyclical Rerum Novarum, prepared by Pope Leo XIII. The time-lapse refers to the relationship between the Catholic Church and communism, above all, for allowing for studying the textual modifications that are made in the anticommunist productions of Archbishop Dom Aquino, according to projects and actions of the Getúlio Vargas government to anti-communism, first with a view to warning about communism and, afterwards, to combat communist ideology and communists.
