Resumo: The term “Science” has origin from Latin “Scientia”, whose translation into Portugueseis“Knowledge”. However, there are great debates about its significance in the current context. Ithas beem even acquired the status of a segment or knowledge field, incorporatingtheso-called scientific method. In this scenario, emerged the Science Fairs, which arise inBrazil inthe 1960s. Over the years, Science Fairs have acquired a certain popularity and begantolosetheir strongly technical character to adapt, gradually, to to the pedagogical context of BasicEducation schools. In the school environment, Science Fairs can promote dialogues betweenteachers, students, subjects and knowledge field, since the projects presented inthiskindevents promotes an interdisciplinary view. In this sense, the main objective of this workwasto understand the importance of Science Fairs as interdisciplinary pedagogical tools inBasicEducation schools in Sinop (MT). Thus, it was to compared the etymological meaningoftheterm “Science” with the meaning of “scientific method”; to carry out a historical surveyaboutthe emergence and realization of Science Fairs; to research models of organizationof ScienceFairs; to analyze the perception of teachers and students of Basic Education in Sinop(MT),provided through questionnaires, in order to raise the opinion of these groups about therelevance of Science Fairs as an interdisciplinary teaching tool; to identify gaps betweenschool subjects and knowledge fields in Basic Education and, finally, to developaTechnological Technical Product, in e-book format, to encourages the development ofScience Fairs as interdisciplinary tools in Basic Education. In this sense, a questionnairewasapplied to 10 teachers and another one eas applied to 25 students of Basic Education. At theend of the work, another validation questionnaire of the Technological Technical Product wasapplied, which will be distributed free of charge to educational institutions in Sinop. Theresults showed that Science Fairs are relevant events in education and that, in the conceptionof both, teachers and students, in the city of Sinop, they are a pedagogical tools that promotesinterdisciplinarity and have the potential to provide meaningful and conceptualizedlearning.
