Resumo: | This research is inserted in the line of Social Movements, Policies and Popular Education, in the Group of Studies and Research in Educational Policies - GEPDES and arises as a unfolding of the policies of expansion and affirmative actions of public higher education, having as justification the numbers of non-permanence at this level of education. It was developed at the Federal University of Mato Grosso - UFMT, Campus of Cuiabá, with undergraduate students in the presential courses degree in, Licenciate in Pedagogy, Licentiate in Physics and Bachelor of Laws that were in the last year/semester to conclude the course. Its main objective is to analyze the elements that make it possible for public school graduates to stay in the undergraduate courses offered by UFMT, Cuiabá Campus. Through a quantitative and qualitative approach, the research has five phases: the first phase consisted of carrying out the survey on public policies for permanence expressed in Laws, decrees, amendments and ordinances at the national level between 1988 and 2017 and in a review of the literature on theses and dissertations in the CAPES database that discusses the permanence of public school graduates in public higher education between 2007 and 2017; in the second phase, were presented the data about the permanence in undergraduate courses of the Federal Universities at the national level and data about the permanence in UFMT undergraduate courses in the period from 2007 to 2017, were also realized an Institutional Resolutions document review that approachs the permanence in the UFMT between 1988 and 2017; in the third phase were the developed readings of theoretical bases through the concept of cultural capital of Pierre Bourdieu; in the fourth phase the questionnaire was applied to the students of the selected courses; Finally, in the fifth phase, data analyzes were performed. The documentary review pointed to advances in policies and conceptions of permanence and setbacks in policy funding. The literature review pointed to several elements that hinder and / or favor the permanence of students; The data of the permanence in the Federal Universities and in the UFMT indicate a decline in the percentage of concludents from 2007 to 2017; The documentary review in the Institutional Resolutions indicates that the actions for permanence are influenced by the policies in the national level and, it just like these, the actions for the permanence in the institution obtained advances in the conceptions; The data collected through the questionnaire indicate that depending on the profile of the students and the degree of appropriation, the elements can favor or hinder the student's permanence; It considerate that the permanence is adapting to the profile of students and the changes that have occurred in the last decades in higher education. |
