Resumo: | We aimed to verify the effect of 5%, 10%, 15% and 20% semi purified glycerin on testicular histometry (distance between seminiferous tubules, tubular diameter and number of spermatogonia and Sertoli cells) of one-day-old male quails (n=955) (Coturnix coturnix japonica) from the first to the third week of life. Quails were distributed in a completely randomized design in five treatments, five replicates with 37 quails each. A quail of each repetition was slaughtered (five birds per treatment) weekly and the testicle was collected to the morphometric analysis. There was a significant increase in the tubular diameter, number of Sertoli cells and spermatogonia the first week of life in relation to the second and from this, in relation to the third week. Average values of the distance between the tubules differed regarding to the treatment in the first week of life, and in animals subjected to treatment with 0% glycerin there was a significant difference to animals subjected to treatment with 5% and 20 % of semipurified glycerin. |
