Resumo: | This research sought to understand the dispute over the territory of Madeira Valley between Mato Grosso and Amazonas, during the height of extraction of rubber in the 1870 period and 1920, having as one of their backgrounds disputes the tax charged in that region of the extracted rubber. With regard to the dispute over the Madeira Valley, it is important to emphasize that it was focused on the issue of collection of the exported rubber, because this was one of the few sources of revenue that Mato Grosso and Amazonas had before the limited framework of autonomy over current fiscal policy both in the Empire and in the Republic. Points out that there are many publications on the exploitation of rubber, and that when the issue concerns the fiscal policy on the rubber at the end of the Empire and early Republic, it becomes practically nonexistent, remaining unspoilt and lacking studies that focus their specificities. |
