Resumo: This Master’s thesis is linked to the researchers’ group ALFALE, Grupo de Pesquisa Alfabetização e Letramento Escolar, a project developed by the Master Degree Program of Federal University of Mato Grosso, in Rondonópolis city. It was developed into the line of research Language, Culture and Knowledge Construction: historical and contemporary perspectives. The purpose of this research is to investigate the pedagogical practices of literacy teachers who were involved in the Language studies of the program PNAIC, Pacto Nacional pela Alfabetização na Idade Certa (National Plan for Literacy at the Correct Age) concerning to the uses of the collections of the Programa Nacional do Livro Didático (PNLD, the National Program of the Textbook): Complementary Books and/or Literacy at the Correct Age. This is a qualitative research with a socio-historical approach. To analyze the pedagogical practices of three literacy teachers from three different schools from Rondonópolis, Mato Grosso, we used interviews, questionnaires, observations and document analysis as data collection instruments. This master’s theses presents the concepts of dialogism, polyphony and alterity, defined by Mikhail Bakhtin as basic and guiding principles to an empirical analysis. Thus, we tried to understand what are the pedagogical practices of literacy teachers who were involved in the Language studies of the program PNAIC concerning to the uses of the collections of the PNLD, Complementary Books and/or Literacy at the Correct Age? Through the interviews, teachers revealed that the program helped them to change their own pedagogical practices. During the period of observation, teachers promoted knowledge among children using several textual genders from the PNLD, from the schools or from their personal collection. They stimulate the reading for pleasure, they prepared the didactic sequences and they also explored the texts to promote textual production. Therefore, the texts were used in different ways and for different purposes, helping students to develop the appropriation of the Sistema de Escrita Acadêmica (SEA, or Academic Writing System), the reading skills and the textual production abilities.
