Resumo: | The teak trees in agrosilvopastoral system (SASP), due to the spatial arrangement, have different diametric growth in the direction of the row and between rows, being common to postpone the first thinning. Therefore, the objective of this work was to test variables that identify the establishment of competition and the period for application of the first thinning in teak cultivated in SASP. The study was carried out in a SASP with three teak clones. The state of competition was evaluated by the elaboration of growth and increment curves in diameter and in sectional area, separately in the direction of the line and in the direction of the planting inter-rows, and by the asymmetry of the stem, and also by calculating the morphometric variables. Complementarily, with the use of trunk analysis, a survey was carried out in an inline plantation, a type of SAF, with teak trees of seminal origin, at 25 years of age, to compare their behavior with clonal trees of the SASP. In an agrosilvopastoral system, at ten years of age, unthined teak clones show differences in growth for different sites. When thinning is not applied, the asymmetry of the stem starts between four and five years old and increases with age, regardless of genetic material and site. Asymmetry is verified with the isolated use of DBH in the line and between the lines. Asymmetry is a consequence of the SASP arrangement associated with the non-application of thinning in clones and seminal material. The isolated analysis of the increase in the cross-sectional area of the line and between the lines registers in a more sensitive way the inflection of the curve and the establishment of competition. The thinning definition method based on the inflection of increment curves in ICA and IMA is not suitable for Agrosilvopastoral Systems. The technical age of the first thinning in teak plantations in an agroforestry system with a spacing of 2 m x 20 m may occur after the fourth year of age. |
