Resumo: This research starts from the argument that it is also necessary to consider small cities, located hierarchically in subordinate positions in the urban network, but that constitute nodes of this network and that are also affected by the processes of globalization, although with unequal reach and different forms and means, compared to big cities. The work, of an interdisciplinary character, seeks to understand that urban equipment constitutes the cultural landscape of a small municipality like Triunfo, within the scope of the Pernambuco state urban network, considering this insertion in the globalization process and the regional distinctions produced by capitalist modernization. The question that arises, between cultural geography and anthropology of the imaginary, is how cultural landscapes act in the imaginary constitution of the municipality and how these landscapes present themselves virtually as resources that enhance an image of the municipality in the urban network of Pernambuco. Triunfo has approximately 15,221 inhabitants, according to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE, 2017) and is located about 400 km from the capital Recife. With an approach in the studies of the imaginary, especially emphasizing the imaginary of the waters and the imaginary of heights, as singularities, we consider that these two cuts can act in order to potentiate the landscapes in their symbolic and socioeconomic potential in the case of this municipality in the Pernambuco hinterland. We follow a qualitative approach in which an interdisciplinary approach is developed and from this broad approach a research model in communication as culture is extracted, in which communication is defined both by the maintenance and by the transformations of social reality, seeking dialogue with the social sciences and human, specifically with geography. We use field research and systematization of photographic record as a technique of information production. We developed an interpretative analysis of cultural and imaginary landscapes, produced, even, through photographs, in order to singularize and enhance an image of the municipality in the state urban network. From the contextualization in Triunfo, we saw that the strategies that aim to singularize within a context of generic modernization, illustrate the faces of artist capitalism or aesthetic capitalism of the patterns of industrial, financial and technological development. We also found that a small city, without the same conditions and dimensions as the big city, transforms its memories and imaginary into singularities, appeases and updates historical conflicts, transforming them into symbolic resources. Based on the researched examples, we highlight that culture is located in contemporary times as a resource, an additive for survival and, perhaps, a mode of economic development for cities. Culture as a resource is a symbolic power that is reflected in the field of economics.
