Resumo: | This dissertation aims to analyze the evasion of students who had access to student assistance between the years 2012 and 2018 at the Federal University of Mato Grosso -UFMT. This is a qualitative study (which does not exclude the recurrence of quantitative data). In order to achieve this, bibliographic, documentary and empirical research were used, with the previous construction of questionnaires that were sent, via email to dropout students. Evasion in higher education is a complex phenomenon that for some time has become an object of worldwide concern because it results in economic, social and academic consequences that have aroused the interest of Higher Education Institutions, which have sought to implement actions to reduce the dropout rates, of researchers, who dedicate themselves to the theme in order to raise indicators that may subsidize the elaboration of public policies, and of other scholars who are interested in the issue. The conceptual diversity around this theme constitutes a first challenge to be overcome. There is no consensus on what evasion is. However, it can be said that most studies consider evasion as the definitive departure from a course without completing it. Regarding the strategies adopted by the State to eradicate it, it is worth mentioning the National Student Assistance Plan - PNAES, which is aimed at supporting student permanence and facing student evasion in higher education. However, what can be seen, even after implementation of PNAES, is that students supported by student assistance, although in a lesser proportion in relation to the others, continue to evade their courses. It concludes by stating that student dropout is a phenomenon of multicausal origin, but most of the reasons that explain the problem are directly or indirectly related to socioeconomic issues. |
